About the artist: Pieter d'Hondt
Pieter d'Hont (1917–1997)was a Dutch sculptor known for his elegant figurative bronzes in which humans and animals are depicted with strength and refinement. Born in Tilburg, he studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, where he was trained in the classical sculpture tradition. D'Hont developed a recognizable style with flowing lines, distinct volumes, and a balanced composition that gives his sculptures a timeless appearance. He created both monumental sculptures for public spaces and smaller bronzes for private collections. His oeuvre includes human figures, athletes, and various animal motifs, consistently capturing the essence of movement and character.
