About the artist: Karin Beek
Karin Beek (1957)is a Dutch sculptor known for her refined figurative bronzes, in which humans and animals play central roles. Born in Arnhem, she trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht, where she developed within the tradition of delicate, realistic modeling. Since the 1980s, Beek has created a distinctive oeuvre of elegant, serenely designed sculptures that are both naturalistic and lightly stylized. Her human figures—often women in tranquil poses—exude tranquility, introspection, and gentle strength. She also creates many animal sculptures, including horses, dogs, and birds, in which she captures movement, alertness, and character with great precision. Beek works with subtle, organic forms and a warm patina that gives her bronzes a timeless appearance. Attention to detail, anatomy, and emotional nuance is at the heart of her artistic approach. Her work is widely appreciated by art collectors for its combination of technical mastery, poetic simplicity, and accessibility. Beek has earned a permanent place in contemporary Dutch figurative sculpture.
